The Trulli Houses of Alberobello
In the 17th Century unique cone shaped stone houses without morter were built in order to avoid paying taxes to the Spanish Viceroy (feudal landlord) of Naples.
These particular dwellings are made with tile stones that that may be dismantled and moved elsewhere. It is today a Unesco site and a very picturesque, artistic curiosity. Whole towns are made in this cone shape form. Today this is quite an attraction. Farms, churches, homes all are built in the same manner.
