Come walk with me through my Venice

Napoleon Bonaparte once said about Venice while in St. Mark’s Square

“… This is the most beautiful sitting room in Europe.“

Come and lets take a slim black gondola and glide down the Grand Canal alined by beautifully embroidered luxurious palaces decorated by the great Venetian painters such as Tintoretto, Veronese, Giorgione, Tiepolo.

Yes, her aspect is like a dream and her history like romance.
It was once the richest, most powerful city of the Middle Ages, stretching its boundaries to the whole Adriatic coast down to Greece. There is no city like it in the world.

Getting lost in the alleys and bridges and canals one reaches the Doge’s Palace which reflects the glory and greatness of the Republic of Venice.

Yes, we all enjoy wondering and pleasantly distracting ourselves in this surreal environment.

Let me take you to the historical, Harry’s Bar, where Ernest Hemingway was a regular from 1949 onwards.

If he is not there we might find Charlie Chaplin, Alfred Hitchcock, Truman Capote, Orson Welles, Aristotele Onassis, Barbara Hutton, or Woody Allen.

Are you following me?

There is so much to see and live in this fantasy city.
If you are adventurous and curious we might just bump into Giacomo Casanova as he escapes perils from a window.

Come with me to Venice at Carnival time and be part of the masquerade of centuries past. Here the Venetians really take it seriously. Not only Venetians, but habituè worldwide come yearly to display their costumes and play their role in this unreal city.

What a rare and particular city Venice is.
“There is a glorious city in the sea! The sea is in the broad, the narrow streets, Ebbing mystery and flowing; and the salt sea weed Clings to the marble of her palaces.“ – Samuel Rogers –
